| With a large international user base
which was growing rapidly it was only natural that a conference be held in
order to help introduce managers, academics and users in industry to as
many as possible of the capabilities of OpenFOAM, one of the most popular
and widely used open source CFD packages. The first requirement for a
conference is of course a venue; Beaumont house is not only a
well-equipped, comfortable hotel in a quiet setting but it also has an
extremely convenient location, situated just five minutes from the M25
motorway and a 15 minute drive from Heathrow airport. Over 100 delegates were in attendance, and the conference featured more than 25 presentations by the producers of OpenFOAM and experienced users who demonstrated how CAE is moving forward as a result of the widespread use of this software. On the 28th and 29th of November training courses were available, and facilities were made available to allow delegates to attend private meetings.
